Biological Taxonomy

The standard offers a common and consistent way to represent living things. It is based on the Integrated Taxonomic Information System (ITIS), but also includes additional identification elements to handle things not contained in ITIS. This standard assumes that a central record of living things of interest to the Agency will be maintained. This State/EPA data standard was approved by the Agency on November 21, 2000 and by the Environmental Data Standards Council on February 22, 2001. Note: EDR DE ID in column 4 means Environmental Data Registry Data Element Identification Number.
